The Blank Page

It's crisp. It's white. Maybe a little off white. Clean. Untouched. A creative mind's canvas or dreaded foe. Some may add color with well-placed words. Others will well-placed strokes of the painter's brush. Either way it can be a ministry, a blessing to those who view the finished product.

Howdy y'all, Crystal here and I'm playing fill in, so I figured I'd take this Woven Wednesday to see how y'all "fill in" an empty page. :) Do you fill it with words? Paint? Crayon? Pastels? Maybe a design for others to fill? Maybe a story to fill someone's heart with joy or peace? Let's share.

I use blank pages in multiple ways. You'll see stories evolve or a new cover for a book, mine or someone else's, more often than not. Today it's a blog post.

Lately, I've had a bit of an itch to try my hand at those adult coloring books. Do any of y'all use them? Do you have one you've enjoyed?

So let's chat...how do you fill a blank page?

  1. Blank pages can be very intimidating...whether you are going to write on it, draw on it, paint on it.....I would sketch something, but I'd have to be in the right mood.
I love my adult coloring books. I don't have a favorite one. I have a variety of books, so I just alternate between them when I color. And I prefer colored pencils to pens/markers. Pencils last longer and blend so much better than pens/markers. Yes, they aren't as bright and vivid, but they still look pretty.

    1. Sketching...hadn't thought of that one. My niece likes doing that one. I haven't done any sketches since my high school art class, unless you count doodling for my little cousins at church.

I agree colored pencils are my preference too. You can get so many different shades and can blend colors so much easier. Sounds like I should break down and get me one of those coloring books.

Thanks so much for stopping in, Debbie!

  2. I'm not a writer so I tend to fill blank pages with lists & notes.

    1. That still counts as writing, doesn't it? :) You should see all the stickies covering my desk. I'm not as bad as some, but they do make life a bit easier. :)

So glad you dropped by, Mary!

  3. I have an adult coloring book that was a gift but I haven't colored any of the pages yet. I've been busy reading so many new books! I'm not a writer but I do draw at times on blank pages.

    1. Hi Marilyn! I've been on a reading spree lately too. What book did you just finish?
What do you like to draw? Animals? Landscapes? Cartoons?

  4. My blank pages often become notes of encouragement, get well wishes or condolences of sympathy. I still enjoy a handwritten greeting and I try to extend that enjoyment to others.
I am glad that you feel your blank pages with stories that we can enjoy!

And yes, I both "feel" and "fill" those blank pages of my stories. :D
