A Rebel in My House by Sandra M. Hart

I'm happy to present Sandra M. Hart to the Stitches Thru Time Readership! She's a friend and great author.

First, let's catch a glimpse of the book with this YouTube video:

Now enjoy the interview:

How long have you known that you were a writer? Did you receive a clear “call?” Or have you just loved writing all your life?

My love for books started with weekly library visits. My third-grade class visited the library every week. The librarian suggested I begin by reading biographies. I read almost every biography that year. I was hooked.

My love of reading quickly birthed a desire to write. I wrote my first book while in sixth grade. I didn’t receive encouragement so I let the dream go.

Thankfully God gave me the courage to dream again.

You recently had another book published. Would you take this time to describe it to us? How and where can readers buy your books?

A Rebel in My House is set during the turbulent Battle of Gettysburg. The townspeople lived through a nightmare that extended months beyond the battle. This novel gives a glimpse of that suffering through the eyes of a Gettysburg seamstress. A Confederate soldier caught behind enemy lines after retreat needs her help. Sheltering him ushers in more difficulties than she ever imagined. Lines become blurred as her feelings for him grow. Loyalties threaten to divide them as Confederates seize the town.

Both have made promises to family members.

Some promises are impossible to keep.

Now, that you’re published, can you sit back and relax from the success you’ve experienced?

Not at all! I am busier than ever with marketing my new novel, connecting with others on social media, writing blog posts, leading a critique group, encouraging other writers, and writing the next novel in the series. And that’s not to mention everything going on with me and my family!

The only way I can keep myself organized is by creating and following “To Do” lists.

Do you have special interests?

I love history. I love learning little-known facts about our American history. My family often gravitated toward museums, mansions, and other historical landmarks while vacationing. We also visited battlefields.

Since this is my second published book involving the American Civil War, you may already have guessed my fascination with this era. That interest began when I was a young girl listening as adults discussed the terrible war where brother fought against brother.

Little did they know what ideas they sparked in me.

Would you give us your blog or webpage so everyone can check it out? Anything else you’d like to share? Promotional information?

A Rebel in My House Book Blurb:

When the cannons roar beside Sarah Hubbard’s home outside of Gettysburg, she despairs of escaping the war that’s come to Pennsylvania. A wounded Confederate soldier on her doorstep leaves her with a heart-wrenching decision.

Separated from his unit and with a bullet in his back, Jesse Mitchell needs help. He seeks refuge at a house beside Willoughby Run. His future lies in the hands of a woman whose sympathies lay with the North.

Jesse has promised his sister-in-law he’d bring his brother home from the war. Sarah has promised her sister that she’d stay clear of the enemy. Can the two keep their promises amid a war bent on tearing their country apart?
