A Warm Welcome to Janis Cox, author of Tadeo Turtle

Thrilled to have this talented author visit today. Read on; I think you'll enjoy getting to know Janis a little and learn about her books!

Inspired by God

Inspiration! I love being inspired. Sometimes I feel as if one thousand ideas are popping in my head and all at the same time. I love how God gives me these inspirations – most come from my prayer and study time.

But more than that, God gives me time, because He is in control of time.

God shows me the most important things for Him. I try to listen and obey.

In February 2012 I wrote a poem in my journal that I called Leroy the Turtle. By October of 2012 I had
published Tadeo Turtle (Tadeo is short for Thaddeus, one of Jesus’ disciples).

In early 2013 I wrote The Kingdom of Thrim in my journal. This time there was a longer wait to publish, much learning to absorb and life to live.

May, 2016 The Kingdom of Thrim will be released.

Why the wait?

I think God puts everything in place, the people, the connections, and the circumstances. He knows the best timing.

I am learning to focus on Jesus more and more. I remember:

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established (Proverbs 16:3,ESV).”

Really, in everything we do, we are to do it for God’s glory, not our own.

To find our purpose in this life leads to glorifying God. The Bible helps us find this purpose, along with prayer and listening for answers.

Yoj (pronounced Y-OH-J (j as in Taj Mahal)) is the central character in The Kingdom of Thrim. He is a happy doll maker who makes a hasty decision without consulting God. This takes him on an adventure in which he rediscovers his purpose in life.

The book is geared to ages 5 and up. There are activities in the back. Packages of extended activities will be available for homeschoolers.

I am also the watercolour illustrator of both books, so I am able to make the pictures reflect what God has shown me.

What has been said about The Kingdom of Thrim:

"I needed this book. If you feel like you've lost your gift or wandered too far from home and aren't sure if you can find your way back, you need it too."

~Jeff Goins, best selling author of The Art of Work

The Kingdom of Thrim is a delightful book full of wonderful illustrations and a beautiful message. I simply love the journey of Yoj. It's one we all can relate to. I'm sure this book will be read time and time again as your children grow in their faith and walk with the Lord.

~ Melanie Fagan, writer, Homeschooling mom

This colorfully illustrated story shares real life issues and problem solving. It teaches about asking God & others to share in our decision making and shows that even if we make mistakes, our lives, gifts, and purpose are redeemable.”

  5. Belated thanks, ladies, for all the wonderful comments for Janis. I've been utterly swamped these past few weeks, but my head's bobbing to the top! :) Thanks, again.

  6. I loved this wonderful book about a turtle named Tadeo. The artwork is beautiful, and there are crafts at the end of the book for children to do that make the story even more meaningful. I took this book with me to Nepal to share with orphans, and the kids loved it. I hope Janis writes more books like it in the future.
