"Do-Over" Eve

This is it--this is our annual evening before the big "Do-Over" day, January 1st. We can turn our backs on all the things we didn't get done in 2015 with fresh resolve to do them in 2016. Anything we'd just as soon forget from last year is officially locked in the chest of "yesterday," even while the vow of never again! is hot on our lips today.

Whatever we want to store away from 2015 can be hermetically sealed as of midnight tonight, and bright and early in the morning, we can unlock our new beginning. We can face our new year optimistically and embrace whatever God has in store for us, knowing that He has us in the palm of His hand.

That's His promise for each new moment--each new day, week, or month that dawns with the sun. But, oh, how much more so when we can turn the page and enter twelve new months of promise and adventure!

Tonight, before the sun sets on 2015, seek God's forgiveness for the wrongs, praise Him for His goodness, thank Him for His love. Then, in the morning, open your eyes to His gift to us all: the big 2016 Do Over.

  1. Happy New Year. And thank you for sharing. It's so true that this is a time of new beginnings. Especially for me as I have been through so much this year. Yet as you said God holds us in the palm of his hands. May the year ahead be a blessed one.
