This is the time of year we are
invited to parties or host our own. Christmas, then New Year’s,
and not long after, the Super Bowl. The challenge for me, even for a simple get
together for my family, is making it special and fun with unique goodies and
food. Something other than the usual chips and dip or pizza. And with so many preparations, simple recipes are the best. Everyone seems to love the combination of sweet and salty, especially if
chocolate is involved!
The past couple of years, I’ve
made these incredibly easy pretzel bites to give away in Christmas containers
to friends and relatives. They’ll also make an appearance on New Year’s when my
son is home from his firefighting job and we sit down to watch the outdoor
hockey Winter Classic between the Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadians in
Boston. He’s anticipated it as much as football fans do the Super Bowl.
Simply take square pretzels and
top with candy kisses. I used milk chocolate and peppermint in this photo. Put
in a preheated 300 degree oven for three minutes, just until the chocolate is
slightly melted. The peppermint melts faster than the milk chocolate. Remove
from the oven and top each with an M & M. This also works great with Rolos.
Chill in the fridge for 15 minutes and they’re ready to serve!
Enjoy!
What’s your favorite snack to
serve at a party?

I made these at Christmas and they were definitely a big hit!
ReplyDeleteSame here. Everyone loved them!
DeleteI'd never eaten chocolate-covered pretzels, and made these for the first time this month.I used round pretzels and dark chocolate, which takes a little longer to soften. Now I know what I've been missing all this time. I love the sweet and salty taste.
ReplyDeleteI love chocolate-covered pretzels, as well. I've never made them, so I guess that's next!
DeleteI made some yummy chocolate dipped jumbo marshmallows with sprinkles this year. Big hit.
ReplyDeleteWow, never thought of doing that. Sounds simple--just the way I like it. I'll have to try some. Thanks for the idea!
DeleteI often used small pretzel twists and dip them in almond bark. Very easy and very addictive! Thanks for sharing this recipe
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
I haven't tried that, but I will. Thanks for the idea! Happy New Year to you, too!
