In Firefly Valley by Amanda Cabot

Heidi here. I just finished an awesome novel I wanted to tell you about.

Marisa St. George is devastated when she is a victim of downsizing and has no choice but to return to the small Texas town where she grew up. Though it's a giant step backward, she accepts a position as business manager at the struggling Rainbow's End resort. The only silver lining is Blake Kendall, a new guest who is making her believe in love at first sight. But will her dreams of happily-ever-after be turned upside down when she discovers who he really is?

I read At Bluebonnet Lake, the first in the Texas Crossroads series, and fell in love with the setting of Rainbow's End resort. It reminded me so much of my parent's lake house in the Adirondack Mountains, kind of a walk down memory lane. The second novel, In Firefly Valley, did not disappoint!

I enjoyed the plot of Marisa St. George returning to her hometown as an adult and all the elements that come with a move like that. I seriously enjoyed how Marisa thought Blake Kendall was unemployed and penniless. Conflict is at its best when the characters make wrong assumptions.

The part I enjoyed the most was how Marisa learned to open her heart to second chances. And how she was able to start living in the here and now instead of repeating the same chapter of her life over and over. Bravo Amanda Cabot on another enjoyable read!

  3. I've read some of her historicals, but nothing contemporary by Amanda.
