I discovered that I am 62% British, 14% Irish, 10% German/Swiss, 5% Scandinavian, 4% Italian and 1% Finnish. Most of this came as quite a surprise, and my Mom and I have had several animated discussions about our heritage.
But what if we could have our spiritual DNA tested?
Surely that would come as more a shock than our physical DNA. Would I be 65% self-seeking, 15% envious, 10% malicious gossip, 3% sexually immoral, 7 % arrogant and boastful? I think most of us would be dismayed if we were presented with the results.
Thankfully, there’s Jesus! Romans 6:23 tells us that, “The wages of sin are death for all of us, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
I am grateful for that gift and in the New Year will try to remember to thank God for it each and every day.

Not sure I'd want my Spiritual DNA run. I've been thinking about doing the ancestry.com thingy.
ReplyDeleteI don't think any of us would really want our spiritual DNA to be tested. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this, Shirley! Praise God that if my spiritual DNA was run today it would read 100% Forgiven!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this thought. I agree with Amber, my spiritual DNA would say 100% Forgiven and loved unconditionally. I'm so thankful for the gift of Salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. God bless each one you contributes to STT.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed these thoughts by Shirley and the other commentators. I have heard of many who have done the Ancestry.com DNA test but I don't know mine. I want to continue to grow spiritually but Jesus's blood and God's grace has made my DNA a perfect match as a child of God!
