Self-Control

Do you have a weakness...something that you struggle with? Perhaps it's eating too much of a certain food. Spending too much time on your phone, social media, or in front of the TV? Trouble getting motivated? Spinning your wheels and not getting anywhere because there is so much that needs your attention? I imagine we've all been there at one time or another in our life.

I came across this verse from Proverbs 25:28(NIV):

Like a city whose walls are broken through
is a person who lacks self-control.

Ouch! I don't know about you, but it really causes me to stop and think about having/choosing self-control. While I may struggle at times with controlling my self and my desires, I take comfort in knowing God is in control. When I choose to give my life in His hands, I can experience self-control because of Him and His strength working through me.

How about you...do you have an area where you struggle with self-control? How can I pray for you today?

  1. I am learning to 'Let go and Let God' more in my life, especially when it come to my adult children. It's so hard to just sit back and do nothing when you see them make big mistakes in their lives. Taking matters into my own hands has only served to cause more problems, so I am learning to give the control to God. Prayers would be appreciated.

  2. Dear Lord, I pray you be with Debbie today. I thank You for the love she has for her children. Remind her of Your great love for them as well and how You can provide for them. Help her to be able to release them into Your care and trust You to work, even when she can't see anything happening. Soften the hearts of her children to desire to follow and serve You. I pray You provide Your perfect peace for Debbie as she waits. Give her Your strength. In Jesus' name, amen.
