Have you ever read or saw something on the television that broke your heart? Or maybe even worse, you experienced it first hand. A grief so profound it made your heart actually hurt?
Science has proven it actually possible to die of a broken heart. It’s known as “stress cardiomyopathy syndrome.”
But even more amazing is that God spoke of these things thousands of years before the scientific discovery.
Psalm 147:3 reads:
He (God) healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
God knows your sorrows and wants your heart to be made whole. So, take heart! For there is no pain or grief that he has not known. The best medicine for a broken heart? Laughter.
Proverbs 17:22 KJV reads:
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
Though you probably can’t imagine being “merry” right now, find those things that make you smile. Draw toward those things or people who make your heart feel a little lighter. For that is God moving behind the scenes “binding” your broken heart . . . One smile at a time.
