Happy Saturday to our wonderful STT community! I hope you're sitting comfortably with a cup of something warm, because we have a fun visit with a new friend of mine. AND she has an AMAZING giveaway to offer at the end of the post, so keep reading.
Thanks Amber for having me here
with you today! I’m a Christian
Historical Romance writer from a rural county in Kentucky. I was born in Minnesota, grew up in the Ohio
Valley, and eventually settled in Kentucky with my husband of almost twenty
years. We have five children,
grown. My husband and I live in an
average colonial style house. We enjoy gardening, walking, and swimming. Sometimes I take time off to sew, cross
stitch, or crochet. I’m teaching myself
violin and piano in my, cough, eh-hem… spare
time. I love everything old-fashioned;
hence, my slogan, The Old-Fashioned
Everything Girl. My writing office
is on the second floor. I have an
awesome view of a wooded area which helps to inspire my writing. There are lots of horse farms and four-board
fences here in Kentucky to enjoy, which also inspire me. I’ve written ten novels… which includes one
releasing this week, and one recently released.
I understand you
brought a guest along with you today…
I did, Amber. Here’s
a photo of Peaches, a calico cat from my new Antebellum Era Christian Romance, Geneva.
Hello, Peaches! It’s so nice to have you with us here
today. Lisa asked me if we’d ever had a
pet as a guest here at Stitches in Time… and I honestly don’t remember having a
pet here before, so this is a first.
Welcome! I understand you endured
quite a journey to be with us, Peaches.
Meow! Thank you for having
us here today… indeed, meow, I did endure a long journey. (Stretches
paws.) I endured being on board a
ship sailing from Wales to America with the heroine, Geneva. Most of my journey involved being very quiet
from inside a tiny bamboo cage. Then,
after I arrived in Kentucky, a tiny, ferocious dawg named Pendleton drove me to climb the drapes in the upstairs
sitting room on the estate. (Begins
cleaning paws and stretches out for a nap again.) Pendleton belongs to Aunt
Millie… what’s a cat to do in a situation like this? The only remedy is to endure… meow!
Sounds like a fun and light-hearted story, Lisa. I see Peaches is taking a nap, but I know
readers will love to know this beautifully written story is only 99 cents for a
limited time.
I think Peaches had such a long
journey from Wales to Kentucky. (Pats Peaches on the head.) Yes, the
theme of Geneva is joy. I really wanted the story to be fun for
readers, as well as romantic and historical.
It is the first of four books in ‘The Brides of Grace Hill’ series I’m currently
writing. Each one will focus on another
fruit of the Spirit in an original type of way.
Readers may also enjoy the Welsh
customs inside the story of Geneva. I spent a good deal of time researching
Cardiff, Wales of Glamorgan County during the 1870’s… along with many recipes,
customs, and actual maps of the city from that particular era. I incorporated much of my own imagination
into the story, but learned Cardiff was eventually a port city along the
channel with coal miners and sea-faring men.
One of the first trains carried coal from Cardiff to London during this
era. The story moves to America during
the days before the Civil War. The series will also focus on the generational
story of the fictional Rosemont women, beginning with Geneva, a Welsh vicar’s daughter.
The fourth book in the series will be a contemporary. Here’s a photo of all four covers--:
What else are you
writing these days?
I’m glad you asked that,
Amber. I also am releasing my first
western contemporary Christian romance, Dreamsof Sweetwater River, today, also only 99 cents for a limited time. This will be book 3 in the ‘Whispers in
Wyoming’ series and can be read as a stand-alone. Danni Roan wrote book 1 and Kari Trumbo, book
2. Rachel Skatvold will also be writing
a book in the series. If you love cowboys
and Wyoming… you’ll really enjoy this contemporary western romance about Logan
and Jill’s love story.
Lisa is giving away two Kindle copies of Geneva and two Kindle copies of Dreams of Sweetwater River. Comment below
which book you think you would enjoy most if you are chosen as one of four random
winners. Also, both of these books are
only 99 cents for a limited time. Be
sure to get your copies today!
