Tidbits on Twins with Special Guest Lillian Duncan

Hello Friends! Today I'm excited to welcome special guest Lillian Duncan back to Stitches Thru Time! It's been a couple of years since she's been a guest on our blog, but today we get a special treat as her book is on sale for only $0.99!

Lillian is a multi-published writer with several Amazon bestsellers, including The Christmas Stalking and Game On. Lillian writes the types of books she loves to read—fast-paced suspense with a touch or two of romance that demonstrates God’s love for all of us
Whether as an educator, a writer, or a speech pathologist, she believes in the power of words to transform lives, especially God’s Word. She also has a devotional blog at www.powerupwithGod.com

Now, here's Lillian.
 *****

I’m not a twin but I would have loved being one—I think. So in honor of twins, here’s a few fun facts. Did you know…

  • that since 1980 the twin birth rate has risen by 76%?
  • identical twins share the same DNA but not the same fingerprints?
  • 40% of twins invent their own language?

Everyone knows Mary-Kate and Ashley are twins as well as Tia and Tamera Mowry, but did you know that…

  • Ashton Kutcher has a twin brother?
  • Alanis Morissette has a twin brother?
  • Keifer Sutherland has a twin sister?

DECEPTION features a set of estranged twins that couldn’t be more different from each other or so it seems. Patti is a go-by-the-rulebook type of person while Jamie is a “free spirit” or at least that’s the persona she portrays to the world. But Deception is the title of the book so there are more than a few surprises as the story unfolds.

Deception is the first in my Sisters By Choice series. I never planned Deception to be part of a three-book series but it just sort of happened. Each of the Sisters By Choice novels feature courageous women who make the choice to help “a sister” in need in spite of the danger involved.

I loved writing the story of Patti and Jamie which is how it ended up being a three book series. Deception (e-book) is on sale for a limited time for only 99 cents or you can buy the complete anthology for the bargain price of 3.99.

IDEAS GALORE! with Guest Lillian Duncan #Giveaway

CONGRATULATIONS, Stitches Thru Time on your three-year anniversary! To celebrate, they asked me to write something fun for my visit so… People always seem to be fascinated by how I come up with my story ideas so I thought I’d share some of my secrets on how that happens.

Exactly how do I get my ideas? The truth is there is no one way that happens. It’s different every time. Sometimes, I come up with a premise, such as what would happen if a big city lawyer fell in love with a farmer? (Pursued)

Sometimes a scene just pops in my head from nowhere. Like when a woman receives a phone call from a young girl asking for her aunt and she knows it can’t be for her because she doesn’t have a niece. Or does she? (Deception)

Sometimes a story comes about because of characters from another story. Both Betrayed and Redemption happened because I wanted to know what happened after Deception.

My Deadly Communications series happened when my writing life crashed into my other life as a speech pathologist. The series features a speech pathologist who gets way too involved with her clients!

One of my books even came from a dream! That was Birthright—my only horror novel. At least up to now. As soon as I woke up, I ran to my computer and wrote down the scene I’d dreamt. Later, I went up and added a little more and then a lot more.

So, like I said my story ideas can come from anywhere at any time. My latest book, GAME ON is no exception. I got it from watching a TV talk show of all things. And no, I’m not going to tell you which one. Of course, all I got from the show was a germ of an idea then it was up to me to figure out the who, what, when, how and why of the story.

Don’t forget to check out my book trailer at https://youtu.be/t6MK2UGB1P0. What’s a book trailer? No a book trailer is not a mobile home with lots of books in it! Haha—that’s supposed to be a joke. Anyway…A book trailer is a mini-commercial about a specific book. Now doesn’t that sound fun?

GAME ON releases on September 2, but you can preorder it right now by clicking on the AMAZON LINK. To celebrate the release of GAME ON, I’m giving away a virtual basket of goodies at www.lillian-duncan.com that includes Amazon gift cards. For all the details go to my blog, Tiaras & Tennis Shoes then leave a comment on the any of the GAME ON blog posts and you’ll be entered.

Redemption - by Guest Lillian Duncan

REDEMPTION—A DEVOTION

Romans 3: 22-24

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

The title of my newest book is REDEMPTION so it seemed to me a good topic to write about in a devotion. Dictionary.com defines redemption as an act of atoning for a fault or a mistake; deliverance or rescue; deliverance from sin; salvation; atonement for guilt.

The title came about as a result of Jamie, the main character being ashamed of things she’s done in her past as a consultant to the FBI. As a result she feels God can’t love her the way she is. So she seeks redemption by putting herself in dangerous situations to help other people.

That makes for a good plot in a suspense novel, but it’s important to know that we can’t save ourselves through good acts, through helping others, or even being really good people. There is only one way to receive redemption: meaning salvation.

No amount of good works can earn us a ticket to heaven! It doesn’t matter how “good” we are, how much money we give to good causes (including the church), or how kind we are to others.

We are saved through our faith in Jesus!

And the reverse is true as well as Jamie discovers in REDEMPTION. Your past doesn’t matter. God loves you just the way you are. He won’t turn his back on you because of your past, present, or even your future mistakes.

To celebrate the release of REDEMPTION, I’m giving away a $25 Amazon Gift Card. So hop on over to TIARAS & TENNIS SHOES at www.lillian-duncan.com to enter. Leave a comment on the post entitled REDEMPTION and you’ll be entered to win.

Others may think Jamie Jakowski is a hero, but she knows differently.

Haunted by her past, she seeks redemption by helping others in spite of the danger to herself. However, after almost orphaning her daughter, Jamie opts to retire. When a friend needs her, Jamie agrees to one last undercover operation.

She is determined to reunite a heartbroken mother with her kidnapped son. Used to working alone, Jamie’s not happy when she’s assigned a partner. And after a failed operation and their failed romance, Enrique Rodriguez is the last person she wants to work with—ever.

To succeed, Jamie must confront her past as well as the people who want her dead.
