My Review

I believe this was my first introduction to the work of author Sarah E. Ladd. I like the way she used the five children to soften the heart of their guardian and worm their way into the heart of the reader as well. I found it to be a delightful glimpse into England in the early 1800s. The author is gifted at describing the area and making it come to life.
