Crafty Christmas

Howdy, y'all! Crystal Barnes here. Hope all y'all had a wonderful Christmas and got lots of goodies. Did y'all get any "crafty" presents? Homemade gifts or gifts to help you with your crafts in the coming year? I did. My grandmother made me a new apron (Yes, I will actually use it. :) ), and my sis got me a couple of patterns.

I can't wait to make this dress. My niece already wants one too. =)

So what about you? What kind of "crafty" presents did you get for Christmas? What works do you plan/hope to make in the coming year? (If the Lord tarries of course.)

Psst...In case you need something to read, I've got multiple kindle books up for grabs this week for only $0.99! Catch 'em while you can!

Award-winning author, born-n-raised Texan, and member of American Christian Fiction Writers, Crystal L Barnes is the culprit behind the Marriage & Mayhem series and more. Accused of being quite the character at times, Crystal has performed in several plays, loves to sing Southern Gospel, and contributes to her church's worship team on a regular basis. 2. Crystal, I enjoy embroidery (working on a dresser scraf). I use to make all my clothes and sewed for others in the past. I want to learn to quilt after I retire.

    3. Oh, that sounds lovely. I used to do some cross stitching, but never learned embroidery. I've done a little quilting. I started a sampler... (cough)... years ago that Lord willing I'll finish one of these days. :-)

  2. Hi Crystal, I sew historical costumes for plays, reenactments and my own book covers. If I can't find a good stock photo composition for my Regency, I'll have to make the dress. Regency dresses aren't hard to make, but they won't fit well without the undergarments. I've never made undergarments before, but there's always a first. If I can lose 10 lbs I might even make a modern outfit for myself. I like your pattern.

    1. Hi, Elaine! I've seen pictures of some of your costumes and they're gorgeous. I've not tried historical outfits myself or the undergarments, but I do have a few 50s style dresses I've made for regular usage. :-)
Thanks so much for dropping by!

  3. Well does cleaning out our storage a couple of days before and getting all my stuff back count? It's actually been like Christmas finding fabric and stuff!
I would love to win the audio book! Sign me up!

    1. LOL! Yes, I reckon that oughta count. Don't you love how those rabbit trails turn up things you'd forgotten all about. :-)
Thanks so much for dropping by. Have a Happy New Year!

  5. It's been so long since I sewed anything! I used to make all my clothes. But no crafty stuff this year. Writing doesn't leave much time for crafty stuff. lol

    1. I totally get you there, Pat. I'll have to make time to make that dress. I don't think I've done much more than alterations this year.

  6. Nothing crafty was under my tree this Christmas but your mention of new patterns has given me the desire to sew. I used to sew a lot and I need to return to this pleasure!
    Happy New Year!

    1. I know exactly what you mean, Connie. It's been probably about a year since I sat down and actually sewed a dress or some such. Hope your sewing projects go well in 2017.
      Happy New Year!
