SATISFIED BY GOD

            Have you ever given much thought to the Desert experience Christ suffered through; and the tantalizing things with which Satan tempted Him?  Can you even begin to imagine the hunger Christ endured during that time?

“And He went without food for forty days and forty nights and later He was hungry.  And the tempter came and said to Him.  If you are God’s Son, command these stones to be made bread” Mathew 4:2

             It’s hard to image anyone being able to live for 40 days with no food, no less being able to refuse to turn the rocks into bread; especially when He had the power within himself to do it.

“But He replied, it has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.” Mathew 4:4

            You see though, Jesus wasn’t looking for the immediate satisfaction that He would have received by creating His own food.  He was waiting for the Best satisfaction that He knew could only be given by God.

            After Satan had tried to tempt Christ, He finally departed leaving Christ to suffer alone.  It was at that point, once Christ had withstood the worldly temptations, that God sent the best.

“Then the devil departed from Him, and behold angels came and

Ministered to Him.” Mathew 4:11

                        Imagine what wondrous things the angels brought to minister to Jesus.  Perhaps they brought water from the river in Heaven, and food from the Lord’s banqueting table. I believe that whatever they brought, it was much more appealing then bread made from stones.

            We can learn a great lesson from Christ’s behavior.  We must wait on God, knowing that He has The Best answer for us.  No matter what hard time or temptation we are experiencing in our lives, God is waiting to see if we can hold out for His best, or if we will settle for creating our own answers.

            Although, the desert experiences seem long and overwhelming, God promises us that He won’t give us more than we can bear.  He knew that forty days without food was all the Christ could bear.  And at the right moment, He sent relief.

            If you are struggling in a desert experience right now, don’t step in and try to create your own answer.  Allow God the time to Satisfy you with His blessings.
