Book Review - The Lady and the Mountain Promise

Happy spring everyone. Warm weather. Flowers. Easter. Spring break. And a great time for reading. If you like historical romance like I do, may I suggest the fourth in Misty Beller’s Mountain Dreams series, The Lady and the Mountain Promise.

I love series and if I like the first book, I have to read until the end of the series. The first in Mountain Dreams series had me hooked, and I waited eagerly for each of the next book in the series.

The Lady and the Mountain Promise follows the romance of Marcus, a small western town preacher and Lilly, a mysterious woman with a young daughter who keeps to herself. Give me any book with a mystery and I’ll devour it like a sleuth. The author skillfully reveals Lilly’s secrets over time, while the romance between her and Marcus unfolds naturally and beautifully.

If you have some reading time carved out this spring, I recommend this entire series about love and faith in the Old West.

Lilly Arendale has fought the anger of prejudice all her life. Her Guatemalan mother and wealthy English father were very much in love and gave her the best of upbringings, but their family was never accepted in either country. Now, orphaned and alone in the mining town of Butte in the Montana Territory, the effects of racism have left Lilly with a one-year-old daughter and a fierce desire to avoid men at all costs.

Marcus Sullivan is a born adventurer, and the new preacher in town. He’s not afraid to take a few risks and his ways may be unconventional, but he’s determined to add some joy into the lives of these townspeople. Especially the beautiful young mother who won’t have anything to do with him.

When the threat to Lilly intensifies and her worst fears come true, how can she find the strength to release control of the one thing that matters most—her daughter’s life? As Marcus steps in to help, the danger only escalates. Has he finally taken a risk he can’t overcome?

Misty M. Beller writes Christian historical romance and is the author of the bestselling Mountain Dreams Series and the Texas Ranchers Trilogy.

Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win Rachel by Jill Eileen Smith. Winner announced March 27.

    1. Hi chappydebbie

You know I never noticed that before, but she does look like the model on the cover. I used my granddaughter on one of my covers.

I've read all but the 3rd, but this is a series you can easily read out of sequence.
