Holiday Aroma Punch

By: Shirley Raye Redmond

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and then the holiday season will be upon us: St. Nicholas Day, Hanukah, St. Lucia’s Day, Christmas, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, and Epiphany—to name a few.

You can make your home or office smell festive by mixing up a fragrant batch of Holiday Aroma Punch in a crackpot. A realtor friend gave this recipe to me many years ago. When hosting an open house—no matter the time of year—Lori kept a crock-pot of this aromatic brew simmering in the kitchen of the homes she hoped to sell. She felt certain it boosted her sales.

While it smells divine, I don’t recommend that you drink this punch. The amount of spice is too overwhelming.

You will need:

  • 1 quart of pineapple juice
  • 1 quart of water
  • 1 quart of apple cider
  • 4 pieces of candied ginger
  • 3 sticks of cinnamon
  • 16 whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon of allspice
  • 2 teaspoons of pickling spice

Simmer in a crock-pot and enjoy the festive aroma. Add water and stir as needed.
And have a blessed holiday season! And if you’re looking for a good sugar cookie recipe for the season, I have posted my favorite one on my website at www.shirleyrayeredmond.com

Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. How long does this recipe last? Eventually, as the liquid continues to evaporate and subsequently water is added, the pineapple juice will be gone. I'm curious as to when a fresh batch is usually needed.

    1. It depends on how high you set the temperature and how hot your crockpot gets. I have found that it lasts almost a week on low. I add more pineapple juice or sometimes orange juice and water at the end of the week. Enjoy!

    1. Yes, it would. They even make small crockpots just for simmering concoctions like this. A great gift combo.
