Interview with Janice Hanna Thompson

Howdy y'all! Crystal here with another sit-down session with a great lady who hails from my neck of the woods. :) Janice Hanna Thompson is a fantastic writer of "love, laughter, and happily ever afters." This past weekend I read two of her books in two days. Trust me when I say you won't regret picking up one of her novels. :) That said, let's get on with the interview, so you can learn about her upcoming release.

1. So, Janice, tell us a bit about yourself.

Where would you like me to start? :) I'm a full-time Christian author who lives in Spring, Texas. I love being a Texas girl, and love being close to my kids and grandkids. That's a huge blessing. I share a home with my mom. We look after each other. Because I'm a writer, I work from home, which is nice. These days, most of my books are wedding themed. That's because all four of my daughters got married within four years of each other. We had one wedding after another!

2. What is your newest book about?

My upcoming book (The Dream Dress) is about a "closet" dress designer (Gabi Delgado) who lives on Galveston Island. I say "closet" because she keeps her wedding dress designs a secret. She works as an alterations specialist at Haute Couture, Galveston's premiere bridal shop. If her boss (temperamental dress designer Demetri Markowitz) finds out she's designing gowns, he will be furious. To his way of thinking, there's only room for one designer on the island. When the news breaks, Gabi's job is in jeopardy. Fortunately, her love life is in full swing.

3. I've enjoyed laughing through so many of your stories. Did you have moments when writing this one that it made you laugh? If so, can you give us an example?

Yes, there's a funny scene where a bride comes into Haute Couture to try on her newly-altered gown. She has just had surgery to morph her B's to DD's (hence the need for the alterations). When she gets the very expensive gown on, there's a major catastrophe involving a tray of eclairs. Needless to say, the bride's gown is almost destroyed and Gabi gets the blame. Might not sound very funny, but it comes out in my usual "laugh a minute" style.

4. Where did you get the idea for this series? Will some of our favorite characters be returning?

The Weddings by Design series is a continuation of the "Weddings by Bella" series, which began a few years back. The story gained such popularity with readers that the publisher offered me a second series. I've loved every minute of it. Especially love keeping my "old" characters alive!

5. Where can readers find your book and connect with you?

The Dream Dress debuts on Amazon in a couple of weeks. I'll be hosting a fun kick-off on my facebook page in the days leading up to the book's release. I love to connect with my readers on Facebook. I have my main page (Janice Hanna Thompson) and my author's page: Janice Hanna Thompson Readers Page. I also have a website: www.janiceathompson.com

6. What will you be working on next?

I'm writing a Bella "wrap up" story set in Splendora, Texas. In this fun/quirky novel, Bella opens a wedding facility in Splendora, Texas. The cast of characters is growing, growing, growing!

7. Last but not least, I like to ask the other authors I interview if they have another creative outlet they enjoy besides writing. Do you?

Yes, and thank you for asking! When I'm not busy writing, I spend countless hours decorating cakes and cookies. I love this creative outlet. I also direct plays at a local Christian theater. I've always been a huge ham.

Thanks so much for sharing with us today, Janice. I've enjoyed learning more about your upcoming release and wish you great success as you continue to write for God.

All right, does anyone else have a question for Janice?
